How a round works

Dragon Tiger is essentially a comparison card game — played with a standard French 52-card deck, typically using 6 to 8 decks together. Each round begins with a betting period, during which the player places a bet on one of three options: "Dragon", "Tiger", or "Tie".

Once betting closes, the dealer places one card face up on each of the two designated spots on the table — one for Dragon and one for Tiger. No extra cards, no hit or stand. The side with the higher card wins. In terms of card values, Ace is lowest (value 1) and King is highest (value 13). Suit plays no role.

If both cards have the same value, the result is a Tie or Draw. A round ends in just a few seconds — that is the biggest draw of this game. It is very popular among players who prefer quick decisions over slower-paced table games.

Understanding bet types and payouts

Besides the three main bets in Dragon Tiger, several side bets are also available. Each has a different payout and a different level of risk.

Dragon Bet

This bet wins if the Dragon side's card is higher. Payout is 1:1 — meaning if you bet ৳100 and win, you receive another ৳100. On a tie, half of this bet is returned.

1:1 Payout

Tiger Bet

This bet wins if the Tiger side's card is higher. The payout is also 1:1. On Dragon and Tiger bets, the casino retains a small commission, so the actual payout may sometimes be slightly lower.

1:1 Payout

Tie Bet

The Tie bet wins if both sides' cards have the same value. The payout is usually 8:1 — but since this outcome is uncommon, the house edge here is much higher.

8:1 Payout

Suit Bet

A bet on whether a card of a specific suit (Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, or Clubs) will appear. The payout varies by table and this is known as a side bet.

Side Bet

Big / Small Bet

A card value of 8 or above is called "Big" and 6 or below is called "Small". The payout in both cases is usually 1:1, but if a 7 appears this bet loses.

1:1 Payout

Odd / Even Bet

A bet on whether the card value will be odd or even. This is also a common side bet available on various live Dragon Tiger tables.

What is house edge and why does it matter

House edge is the platform's long-term mathematical advantage. In simple terms — how much of every ৳100 wagered the platform retains on average. In Dragon Tiger, the house edge on the main Dragon and Tiger bets is relatively low, which makes the game a reasonable starting point.

The house edge on the Tie bet is much higher because it occurs rarely — two cards landing on the exact same value happens in only a small fraction of total rounds. It is better not to be drawn to the Tie bet too often, especially for new players.

Side bets such as Suit, Big/Small, or Odd/Even can carry a higher house edge than the main bets. They can be tried occasionally for variety, but should not be treated as a regular strategy.

Across the different tables in ck's live casino, the house edge may vary slightly because each table has slightly different rules and payouts. It is worth checking the payout chart for a table before placing your bet.

Quick Comparison

Bet Type House Edge
Dragon Relatively low
Tiger Relatively low
Tie Notably higher
Side Bets Moderate to high

Strategy tips for new players

Dragon Tiger is entirely luck-based — no skill or counting makes a difference here. However, a few basic habits can help players manage their money and play longer.

  • 01 Focus on Dragon or Tiger bets — avoid the Tie bet as much as possible. The difference in house edge has a significant impact over the long run.
  • 02 Set a fixed budget and stick to it. Trying to recover losses by increasing your bets after a losing streak generally does not work out.
  • 03 Start small. On a live table, watch a few rounds with the minimum bet — get a feel for the pace and rules.
  • 04 Take breaks rather than playing for long stretches at a time. Making decisions when tired can lead to mistakes.
  • 05 You can try side bets occasionally for variety, but do not make them part of your main strategy. To learn more about playing responsibly, read the Responsible Gaming page.

Live dealer vs. digital version

Live Dealer Version

Streamed live from a real studio or casino floor. A professional dealer sits in front and deals the cards. A chat feature lets you talk to the dealer. The entire process is visible on live camera, which adds credibility. However, a poor internet connection can disrupt streaming, and there is a slightly longer wait between rounds.

Digital (RNG) Version

There is no human dealer here — a computer algorithm (Random Number Generator or RNG) determines the outcome of each round. Rounds finish much faster since there is no wait for shuffling or dealing. This suits players who want to play entirely at their own pace. The minimum bet amount is also generally lower.

Playing on mobile

The ck platform works fully on mobile. Both the live and digital versions display well on a phone screen. The ck App is available for both Android and iOS — visit the ck App page for details.

What you need to know about table limits

Dragon Tiger table bet limits generally vary by table type. Most casino platforms have low-limit tables for new players where you can start with small bets, and high-limit tables for experienced players.

On live tables, the minimum and maximum bet amounts are clearly shown on the table screen. Check those limits before placing a bet so you do not accidentally go over them.

VIP tables have much higher limits and generally offer more personalised service. Playing regularly at ck and reaching VIP level makes it easier to access these tables. The ck VIP programme has four tiers from Bronze to Platinum, each with weekly cashback benefits.

The digital version usually has more flexible limits — you can start with very small bets. New players can begin here to get comfortable with the pace and rules of the game.

Common questions about Dragon Tiger

In Baccarat, each side receives multiple cards and a third card is drawn under specific rules. In Dragon Tiger, each side gets just one card and the higher card wins outright. This makes Dragon Tiger much faster — each round is over in just a few seconds.

On most Dragon Tiger tables, a tie returns half of your Dragon or Tiger bet. Players who did not bet on the Tie lose the other half. Check the specific table rules to be sure.

In theory, card counting can give a rough idea of the ratio of high to low cards remaining, but this is extremely difficult in practice. Many tables reshuffle after every round, making counting pointless. On live casino tables, the reshuffle policy is usually shown on screen.

Excluding ties, the winning chances for Dragon and Tiger are nearly equal. Adding in the possibility of a tie creates a slight difference between the two sides, but it is negligible. This is why the game is known as a "50-50" game.

Most live tables have dealers who speak English or another language. However, ck's customer support team is available 24/7 in both Bengali and English via live chat and email.
